Certificate in Leadership

The CREW Network Certificate in Leadership program features year-long specialized leadership development, industry training and self-directed mentorship. By participating in this program, you will be exposed to extraordinary academic content coupled with CREW Network mentors who are familiar with the challenges in the commercial real estate work environment— and you will earn a recognized industry credential that demonstrates the skills and knowledge needed to lead in the industry.

Companies are looking for women who have demonstrated leadership capabilities and the time is right for supplying the industry with a cadre of women who are ready to lead. The Certificate in Leadership curriculum was developed from CREW Network research findings over the last 10 years indicating that women are often reluctant to take risks, negotiate salaries and develop specific career plans that allow them to move across company functions or seek promotions that pivot into broader leadership positions. Mentorship

Program participants will also be asked to select mentors of their choosing, preferably fellow CREW Network members who have been successful in their careers and chosen specialties. At the conclusion of the program and with the help of their mentors, participants will be asked to create a business plan for their careers benchmarking progress.

Three outstanding professors from MIT, Harvard and Emory were selected to lead the 2016 program because of their impressive credentials in the targeted areas of finance, negotiations and leadership. They offered intense full-day training to quickly elevate skills in these critical areas.

Michael Sacks

Sacks joined Emory's Goizueta Business School faculty in fall 2000 after completing his Ph.D. in Organization Behavior and Sociology in the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. As an Associate Professor in the Practice of Organization & Management, he teaches core organizational behavior, strategy, and leadership classes. In his CREW Network Certificate in Leadership training, Sacks covered:

Dr Guhan Subramanian

Guhan Subramanian, Harvard

Subramanian has been involved in major public-company deals such as Oracle’s $10 billion hostile takeover bid for PeopleSoft, and Cox Enterprises’ $9 billion freeze-out of the minority shareholders in Cox Communications. Over the past 10 years, he has been involved in extensive negotiations with major commercial real estate companies throughout the world. He is the author of Dealmaking: The New Strategy of Negotiauctions.

Schuck is a lecturer at MIT in the Sloan School of Management and the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. She has taught "Managing the Real Estate Industry" for 16 years at MIT's Center for Real Estate and also currently designs, develops and teaches a graduate course about management and organization theory. In her training, Schuck covered:
