Boston Legacy Council Celebrates CREW

Wendy Mann, CAE

Leaders in all walks of life leave a legacy behind when their tenure is over. A dedicated group of CREW women have created a legacy of dedication for CREW Boston. They took the spark of an idea and turned it into a lifelong commitment to advance women in commercial real estate.

Last night over wine, conversation and laughter, you could see the camaraderie and commitment of industry icons from the Boston market as they held their annual Legacy Council Dinner hosted by Boston real estate leader Rosalind Gorin in her home. What a fantastic group of women! Rosalind, along with several other women, were the founding members of CREW Boston. Many of the other women present were part of the initial membership of the chapter. These amazing women saw a need and have continued to work on it for many years.

Also in attendance were members of the CREW Boston Board of Directors. Many thanks to CREW Boston for their warm welcome to myself and CREW Network President Alison Beddard. We had the opportunity to connect with the leadership and learn more about the chapter, their initiatives and membership. As we went around the table and learned more about each person, it struck me how much we have in common and our shared experiences in commercial real estate. Several young women mentioned that the senior men in their companies encouraged them to join CREW back in the 80s and 90s. It’s great that men are supporting and encouraging participation in CREW.

There’s nothing like tradition in Boston and this town is a terrific example of the old residing alongside the new and the historic with the modern, especially in commercial real estate. I was honored to be part of an evening celebrating the roots of our organization in the city that grew into our country. How apropos!
