Ask your manager or workplace leader for permission to bring a girl to work with you on Nov. 6, 2019 (also Take Our Kids to Work Day in Canada). Share the flyer and website so they understand the purpose and benefits of participating, which include:

  • Empowering girls and young women through personal career development
  • Inspiring the next generation of leaders by inviting them to participate in your daily work
  • Educating girls about commercial real estate careers and how each role contributes to the overall success of the company and the communities it serves

Once you receive approval from your manager and/or workplace, invite a girl to come to work with you on Nov. 6.

  • Consider your daughters, granddaughters, relatives, friends’ daughters, mentees. Girls between the ages of 8 and 18 at recommended.
  • If your chapter has hosted a recent CREW Careers event, think about inviting former program participants (with the proper permission, of course) to spend the day with you.
  • Share the flyer and website with your invitee and their parents so they understand the purpose and benefits of participating.

If you are not the parent or guardian of the girl you’ll be taking to work, get permission from the girl’s parent or guardian to:

  • Come to work with you on Nov. 6 and miss school that day. Complete and provide the excused absence template. Make sure the parent or guardian understands that they are responsible for contacting the girl’s school to excuse their absence.
  • Allow the girl to be photographed by you and/or your company during the day that may be shared on social media and/or your company’s website.
  • Arrange how the girl will get to your office and return home.

Once your participant is confirmed and you have their parent or guardian’s permission, fill out the form to notify CREW Network of your commitment to participate. Notify your chapter leaders and fellow members as well. (Idea: ask fellow members if they’d like to meet you and your student for lunch so she can meet other CRE women.) The CREW Network chapter with the greatest Bring a Girl to CRE Day participation will also be recognized at the 2020 Winter Leadership Summit and receive an award at the Convention and Marketplace.

Create an agenda for the day. Think about staff you’d like the girl to meet and meet with, and set meetings with those individuals. Book conference rooms if needed. Plan to take her lunch! Share the agenda with your student in advance so she knows what to expect.
