Discover the Gateway to the West

CREW-St. Louis will host an optional walking tour of the Gateway Arch Grounds which will include the exterior grounds and the interior museum. The tour will be led by an architect who was heavily involved in the Arch Grounds development.

The Gateway Arch is the world's tallest arch, the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, and Missouri's tallest accessible building. It was built as a memorial to President Thomas Jefferson, who championed the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and sent Lewis & Clark on their great expedition westward. The entire Jefferson National Expansion Memorial consists of the Gateway Arch and grounds (about 62 acres), plus another 30 acres encompassing the Old Courthouse, Luther Ely Smith Square, and many of the surrounding streets.

Tour participants should meet at the CREW-St. Louis hospitality table at 3:45 p.m. (CDT) for a 4 p.m. tour departure.
