Effective solutions to project confidence and increase productivity

One of the most common themes that comes up when a male leader is asked about a talented woman in his organization is “she is really smart, but she doesn’t project enough confidence.” When leaders have doubts about our confidence, they are less likely to hire us, promote us or tap us for special opportunities. Whether or not we feel confident inside, we need to know how to project confidence on the outside.

This session will focus on what confidence “looks like” and how women undermine themselves with behaviors called “power robbers.” You will learn the context of Personal Power by reviewing three types of power and the seven elements to enable you to harness your personal power.

An opportunity to showcase your personal power exists in every meeting you participate in. Professional women have often said that they have a hard time being heard, especially in meetings, because they are the minority. However, a woman’s effectiveness is often judged by her contributions–or lack of contributions–in meetings. In this session, you will learn about the key communication traps that women face and effective solutions to increase productivity in such settings.
