Holy Rosary School was directly across from the Johnsonburg Public Library in my hometown. As a sixth grader, I would run across the street after school to immerse myself in books. It was my favorite place to be—among the stories and knowledge they imparted.
I had a few ways I explored the library. Fiction was always first on my list. I wandered through until I found something that intrigued me. I checked out five books at a time, each a treasure to me. Books—and stories—took me places I never thought I would go.
Next, I would hit the research room. When we needed information in the pre-internet days, we headed to the library’s research books to find it. Encyclopedia Britannica were my favorite—a primary research book for learning just about anything.
I closed my eyes and selected an encyclopedia book between A and Z. Next, I would place my finger randomly and open to a page. My goal was to learn at least five new things through this process each visit. I never failed—there was so much to learn!
Last week I was on the CREW Network website reading one of our Industry Briefs. I thought about how information abounds in our world today. You don’t have leave your desk or the comfort of your home to learn anything. We are inundated with the latest studies, insights for the future, scientific breakthroughs and so much more. Think about how many emails you get with industry reports—just download here (after providing your name and email).
CREW Network Industry Briefs do not require your name or email. They only require 10 minutes of your time. We are publishing some of the latest insights in the industry, written by our members who are experts on the subject matter, in a one-page brief just for you. We know your time is precious—you need a quick read about the topics that impact your daily work.
I challenge you to read and share the briefs. Your colleagues, clients and business partners will be glad to have you deliver information to their desk with a single click. And more appreciative of the brief nature of the insights.
No more running to the library and lifting heavy books. Just a click. That is another benefit CREW Network brings to you.
