It’s the last week of January already. Can you believe it? The new year days have passed quickly and if this is any indication, we have a bustling year ahead. As I’ve spoken with many of you these first few weeks of 2018, many have indicated that the year started off with more than a bang—and the pace has been constant. How do you go from a relaxing holiday season to full speed overnight? It just happens.
Looking forward, it’s going to be important to look for ways to give yourself the time and investment you need to stay fresh and energized. It’s not easy to say no to one more engagement or one more assignment. It’s definitely not easy to slow down at work! Our work lives are moving faster than ever and deals are being done quickly and efficiently. That is good news for CRE, but challenging for those of you who are feeling overwhelmed.
Our upcoming Winter Leadership Summit that kicks off this week with our Leadership Certificate program will be a great opportunity to rejuvenate and dedicate some time to reconnecting with colleagues and developing leadership skills. This meeting is an opportunity to pause from the frenetic pace of work and focus on professional development. It’s a time for each of us to take a moment to keep in mind that to fully realize our potential, we need to feed our minds and exchange new ideas with our peers.
This unique event provides great energy from being with like-minded professionals dedicated to their work and their CREW chapters. This is a time of investment for our leaders to gain some new perspective and get inspired by what they learn.
And speaking of that, I was recently inspired when I spent a few days in San Diego with our local chapter leaders discussing the 2018 CREW Network Convention and Marketplace that will be held there Oct. 17-19. The volunteer leaders are organized, creative and on top of some terrific ideas for delivering great local flavor through the learning excursions and hospitality.

The CREW San Diego board hosted a happy hour at the CBRE office.
You’ll see many great projects and get a great taste of the sunshine and beauty of San Diego. Mark your calendars now!

Neat view of a roof top garden from the CBRE officie patio. Great real estate in San Diego!
As you continue into 2018, remember to pace yourself and take some time to re-energize through your CREW…
Cheers,
WM
