Associated Press Style
CREW Network adheres to the Associated Press (AP) style of writing, the standard for journalism, public relations, and marketing communications.
It is easier for individuals to read. AP style’s purpose is to promote uniformity for ease of reading and a common understanding.
It keeps the media happy. Some say one of the most important reason we use AP style is to give journalists information in the way that is most valuable to them. Heavy editing doesn’t bode well for the publication of our event or article.
It lends credibility to our writing. Even small mistakes and typos in an news article, event page or email affect how readers view CREW. It might seem daunting to follow all of these rules, but with so much other content out there to compete with, it’s important for our image to stay competitive.
The Associated Press is an American not-for-profit news agency headquartered in New York City. Founded in 1846, it operates as a cooperative, unincorporated association, and produces news reports that are distributed to its members, major U.S. daily newspapers and radio and television broadcasters.
