from3:00 PM to - 4:00 PM UTCZoom

This session, exclusively for CREW Network members, will help you build cultural awareness and uncover inherent biases that are a result of the primary culture where you work. In commercial real estate, we know that while land is local, business is global. International companies are moving in and out of markets regularly and they are seeking local partners. Companies are also increasing their footprint and employees are being asked to work with people across borders and across continents. Being an effective businessperson means understanding the interconnectedness of our cultures and being able to do business in all of them.

Specifically, this session will discuss work cultures and norms across North America (Canada, Mexico, United States) and Europe (UK, France, Ireland, Poland, Germany). Anyone who is exposed to business opportunities in more than one country would benefit from this session.

At the conclusion of the session, you will have a greater understanding of your own cultural approach to business, how this approach translates across borders, how various countries approach business on a task-based to relationship-based scale, and tips to facilitate success.
