The sparkling lights hit my senses first and then I walked a few steps further into a lovely room with lights strategically placed in the foliage and along the walls. It looked like many twinkling stars which was fitting for the celebration of CREW Northern Virginia’s first annual awards event. The setting really created a celebratory mood and the professionals in attendance engaged in great networking. Kudos to the planning committee for finding the ideal location for an important event that supports the mission of CREW Network to celebrate and recognize the achievements of women.
I had the opportunity share a few words with attendees about CREW Network and the importance of our business network expansion, continued development of our leadership programs and continuing to collaborate with chapters to ensure our Network flourishes in the coming years. I was honored to be part of the event and had the opportunity to meet many members including Antoinette (Toni) Beverly with Boston Properties, LP. As you know, I love stories, and Toni shared a doozy!
She explained that she had attended her first CREW Network Convention and Marketplace in Houston. She went alone, meaning she didn’t really know anyone else going from her company, though there were some fellow chapter members there. She said it was the most fantastic experience meeting new colleagues from other chapters and connecting with them. She says it was amazing that by the end of convention they were fast friends and still texting daily now that they are back at the office. This is the power of the Network. The power of the convention.

For all the sparkling stars that received awards, your work and dedication is apparent with the chapter’s success. Bravo to all of you who are raising the stature and visibility of women in commercial real estate, and congratulations to all of you for investing in yourself through your participation in CREW Northern Virginia and CREW Network.
