Five Commercial Real Estate Executives Named 2017 CREW Network Distinguished Leaders

(Lawrence, Kan., USA) July 31, 2017 – Sheila Botting, Crystal Maggelet, Angela Mago, Sherri Schugart and Karen Whitt have been named 2017 CREW Network Distinguished Leaders and will lead a roundtable discussion at the CREW Network Convention and Marketplace on Oct. 25, 2017.

Distinguished Leaders are top executives in commercial real estate invited by the CREW Network board of directors to serve as advisors to the organization and women in the industry. Held annually at the CREW Network Convention and Marketplace, the Distinguished Leaders Roundtable brings together these industry leaders for a candid discussion identifying current issues in today’s market and the skills women need to advance in the industry.

Botting is Partner & Canadian Real Estate and Construction Leader for Deloitte, and a member of Deloitte’s Global Real Estate & Construction Executive Team. She is responsible for Deloitte’s full service offering to the real estate industry and real estate services for other clients which includes 600+ employees operating across 56 Canadian markets. She was previously responsible for Deloitte’s corporate real estate program and led the transformation of the firm’s office portfolio of almost 2 million sq. ft. across Canada. Botting is a member of Toronto CREW.

Maggelet is CEO of FJ Management Inc., a diversified family business with wholly owned subsidiaries including Maverik, a 300-store convenience store chain, Big West Oil, a petroleum refinery and TAB Bank. In addition to her current board role as Chairperson of the FJ Management board, she is a director and Chair of the Audit Committee on the Pilot Flying J Board of Managers, a Director on the Savage Services Board, and serves on the Utah State University Board of Trustees, Intermountain Healthcare Board and the Zions Bank Advisory Board.

Mago was named Co-Head of the Corporate Bank for KeyCorp in addition to her role as Head of Real Estate Capital for KeyBank in January 2016. She was named Head of Real Estate Capital in 2014 and has direct responsibility for a $29 billion real estate portfolio. Prior to leading Real Estate Capital, Mago ran the Real Estate Capital Markets team with responsibility for originating, underwriting and distributing permanent mortgage financing for Key’s clients through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, Life Companies and CMBS. She is a 30-year veteran of Key.

Schugart is a Senior Managing Director/CEO at Hines and a member of Hines’ Executive Committee. She joined the company in 1995 and currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hines Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc.; Hines Global REIT, Inc. and Hines Global REIT II; Hines U.S. Core Office Fund L.P. (Core Fund); and HMS Income Fund, Inc.  Collectively, these five investment funds acquired and operated approximately $10 billion of real estate and debt investments globally.


As President | US Investor Services & Project Management and Real Estate Management Services for Colliers International, Whitt oversees property management assignments in the United States and leads business development activities. Her role also includes oversight of the Investor Services and project management platforms, which focuses on strategically connecting Colliers’ Retail, Industrial, Office and Multifamily, brokerage investment sales, project management and property management groups with investor clients. Whitt has 20+ years of experience in property management on both coasts. She is a member of CREW Atlanta.
